Kent D. Williamson was born in Amarillo, Texas. He attended college at Texas Tech University, and graduated with a Bachelors degree in government and politics from the University of Texas at Dallas. Kent received his Juris Doctorate degree in 1990 from the University of Tulsa College of Law in Tulsa, Oklahoma. While in law school, he served as a staff member on the Energy Law Journal.

Upon graduating from law school, Kent became a prosecutor with the Hunt County District Attorney’s office. After two years, he was appointed Special Prosecutor for the North Texas Drug Interdiction Task Force, which operated throughout Northeast Texas. Kent entered private practice in the area of insurance defense litigation with the Law Firm of McCauley, MacDonald & Devin. Subsequently, Kent served as a staff attorney for the Kemper Insurance Companies in their Dallas, Texas office. During his career, Kent has defended hundreds of personal injury lawsuits, and has conducted numerous jury trials.

Kent joined The Silvera Firm in October, 2003, and practices in the area of insurance defense non-subscriber, general liability, trucking, and employment litigation. He has provided seminars and continuing education courses entitled “Overview of Texas Premises Liability Law 2006,” The Silvera Firm, September 2006; and “Overview of Texas Non-Subscriber Law,” The Silvera Firm, December 2007.

Kent has several reported appellate cases including Bliss v NRG Industries, 162 S.W.3d 434 (Tex. 2005); In Re: R & R Personnel Specialists of Tyler, Texas, 146 S.W.3d 699 (Tyler 2004, no writ); In Re: Golden Peanut, ___ S.W.3d___ (Eastland 2008) (under review by the Texas Supreme Court).

Kent is a member of the Texas Bar Association. He is licensed to practice law in the United States District Court for the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas. He is also licensed by the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
