Biography: John D. Bell was born in Irving, Texas and received his bachelor’s degree in Economics, cum laude, from the University of Dallas. He was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society and of the Omicron Delta Epsilon Economic Honor Society. He then attended Texas Tech University School of Law in Lubbock, Texas where he obtained his law degree in 1998, and is a member of the American and Texas State Bars, and is also licensed to practice in the State of Texas, as well as the Northern Federal District Court of Texas.
John has traveled the state of Texas, representing parties before the Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Worker’s Compensation, formerly known as The Texas Workers’ Compensation Commission. He also has experience handling the defense of toxic torts claims, premises liability claims, automobile accidents, and representing parties in actions brought pursuant to the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act in state court as well as before the American Arbitration Association.
John has practiced law in Texas since 1998, primarily in the field of workers’ compensation and general liability insurance defense. He was associated with law firms in Dallas and Fort Worth, concentrating his practice in workers’ compensation defense. Prior to joining the firm in December 2016, John worked as an administrative law judge for the Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Workers’ Compensation. He presided over approximately five-hundred workers’ compensation cases as a Contested Case Hearing Officer, primarily in the Dallas Field Office.
John has extensive litigation background in workers’ compensation matters, dispute resolution, and has overseen the handling of administrative and legal proceedings with the Texas Workers’ Compensation Commission, as well as cases that proceed to District Court and County Court. He also has extensive experience in claims adjusting matters for a variety of different insurance carriers and third-party administrator clients.
